Upon arrival in Azerbaijan for the purpose of study international students should get registered upon place of their residence within a 15- day period. For this students on their own or the manager of the place of their residence (house, hotel) should submit the following documents to the Azerbaijan State Immigration Service via official www.migration.gov.az or email Bu email ünvanı spambotlardan qorunur. - copy of students passport;
- filled application form.
After entering this data into the unified migration system the applicant gets notified about being registered within one working day period. Below is the duration of the registration process for international students and non-citizens:
- for a person arriving with a visa - the period of residence in the country is as indicated on the visa;
- for a person for whom a visa is not required - 90 days
No state fee is required for temporary residence of international and non-citizen visitors. Should a student change a place of stay he is required to get the new registration process started in accordance with the above mentioned rules.
International visitors travelling to the country for studying should have a student entry visa. The admission process at the educational institution begins after a student upon arrival earns a right to stay in the country till the date indicated on his obtained visa and after being registered within a 15- day period by place of his residence.
It is possible to apply for obtaining a student visa via official internet page https://evisa.gov.az/az/.
In exceptional cases a student in order to get admitted to the educational institution can contact the institution, provide information and request for obtaining a student visa, the institution then applies to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Azerbaijan Republic for obtaining a student visa.
International visitors and non-citizens travelling to Azerbaijan for studying should definitely enter the country with a student visa. After that a student in order to get admitted should apply to the Department on Work with International Students of the desired educational institution and the Azerbaijan State Migration Service to get registered and granted a temporary residence permit (1- year green card).
